Gardening

I have started a weekly gardening series for 2011. I recently noticed that I spend the majority of my grocery money in the produce section. It is expensive and it frustrates me that the healthier we eat, the more it costs. This year I am trying to grow nearly all of my family's produce in our own backyard.

I am not am expert. But I have had a nice veggie garden for many years, and helped in my father's veggie garden for many years before that! I am also learning lots more from my local agricultural extension. 

Gardening is a great activity for the whole family - it can be very educational, it gets everyone outdoors, and provides inexpensive food. Not to mention that almost all kids will eat food that they grew and picked themselves - even the dreaded green vegetables!
