Holiday Cheer: Day 9

"First of all, then, I ask that supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings be offered for everyone,
for kings and for all in authority, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all devotion and dignity.
This is good and pleasing to God our savior, who wills everyone to be saved
and to come to knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God. There is also one mediator between God and the human race,
Christ Jesus, himself human, who gave himself as ransom for all."  ~ 1 Timothy: 1-6

{Good day! If you are new to 45 Days of Faith, Family, & Fun, click to learn more. If you are new to this site, welcome!}

Today's "getting things done" task was table decor, settings, printables, but we covered that on Wednesday. So finish up whatever still needs doing from the last week. The only thing that's on tap for this weekend is to take family photos for the Christmas cards. We will go to a park and take our own, but you could go to a studio as well. Other than that, enjoy your weekend! The weekdays before Thanksgiving next week will be spent on food preps & cooking and whatever else still needs doing.

Here is one of my boys from our 2007 photo shoot in the park.

Thanksgiving is Thursday! I am really looking forward to switching to the advent of Christmas for this 45 days project. There's so much to delve into then!

We always kick off the Christmas season on the evening of Thanksgiving! We have this tradition that we have done for oh, at least 6 years now. We set up a buffet with Thanksgiving dinner leftovers - turkey and sandwich fixins & veggies, also raw veggies & dip, cut-up fruit, crackers and cheeses. We always get the first eggnog of the season for that night, and always a box of mixed chocolate Pepperidge Farm cookies (you know, the party pack? Oh yeah baby.) We put out blankets and pillows for everyone to snuggle and we eat and watch The Muppets Christmas Carol.

Have you heard of Holy Heroes? They do an Advent Adventure series every year. You can subscribe for free via e-mail and then each day they'll send you a link to that day's adventure page. We signed up last year and will definitely do it this year as well. Each day there are videos either cartoon or featuring kids, faith stories, saints stories, the 12 days of Christmas, etc. There are also activities for the kids to do. Its really cute and keeps the focus on the whole reason for the season . . . every day. It seems that they have gotten more commercial this year, trying to sell add-ons, but the original series is still free.

Have a great day and a blessed weekend! Be sure to come back to check out all the recipes we put up over the weekend!

God Bless You & Yours,
