Holiday Cheer: Day 37

"It’s when she reaches for the wooden figure of Mary that I remember. I see the swelling silhouette of Mary there on the back of the donkey and the starkness of it strikes me, what it really means to be a womb.

Mary’s distended. Her skin is pulled taut. Her belly swells round and her abdomen bulges and she is drawn to the outer rim of herself.

Mary’s stretched.

To be a dwelling place of God, a womb for Christ, means to be extended, taken to one’s outer edges… stretched."

This passage comes from an incredible post I found at {In}Courage: Why a True Christmas Might Be Painful. So I wanted to share that with you. Just click the link to read the whole post.

Advent Activities:

- Watch Holy Heroes Advent Adventures videos.

- Light two purple and one pink candles on the Advent wreath and read today's liturgy.

- Make and hang today's Jesse tree ornament, the watchtower for Habakkuk, that he stood upon, waiting for the anointed one the Lord would send to end violence and wickedness. Habakkuk 1:1 - 2:1, 3:16 - 19

- Say a decade of the rosary.

- Open another door on our Advent calendars.

Getting things done/ Family & Fun:

Today we will make cookies for Santa and freeze them.

We will also do some more cleaning, since Christmas is getting close and we are hosting dinner this year.

Check out these snowman truffles we made!

God Bless,
